Boonzaaijer's Dutch Bakery in Colorado Springs is the bakery you go to after you've binge watched The Great British Baking Show. It's the bakery you go to when you've been watching or reading anything Jane Austen or anything BBC. It's classy, modern, and gourmet. I have been here twice. Boonzaiijer's is a carb lover's delight. They've also won awards by the Gazette for best cake, best bakery, and best wedding cake. It's a highly rated bakery that you definitely shouldn't miss. At Boonzaaijer's, you can get all sorts of gourmet desserts and pastries, coffee and espresso, and a few Dutch grocery items, kind of like a small convenience store section. There is also a good amount of seating, so you can treat it like a coffee shop or meeting hub. You can also get custom cakes. If you're looking for a wedding cake, Boonzaaijer's is where you can get fancy. The Dutch bakery is located on Fillmore, close to Ranch Foods Direct (local beef) and El Chapin Food Truck. You can also get teas, fruit smoothies, homemade fresh baked breads and homemade pies. There are also many pastries to choose from, as you can see! On today's run, we chose a mocha vanilla eclair and a cinnamon sugar cookie swirl. Our first time here we got a lemon bar, vlaai (sweet crust, bake custard, fruit filling, and streusel topping), and Mexican wedding cookies. The wedding cookies were good, and the vlaai was delicious. I try to keep my carbs low, so I don't usually eat a lot here. I did get a sausage and egg croissant sandwich on my first time here, and while enjoyable, I was trying to make a meal out of it, which it wasn't, so I wished there had been more meat in it. It's a fun little bakery, and we have gotten gift cards for friends and family from here. My wife really likes it, and if you enjoy baking or eating homemade baked goods, then this is the place for you! They do not have donuts, in case you were wondering. Boonzaaijer's Dutch Bakery is located at 610 E Fillmore St, Colorado Springs, CO 80907

Not very good pies really. Personally, I think they rely mostly on sugar more than other authentic ingredients. I've had the apple crumb, The regular apple, the pecan, and the strawberry-ruebarb, and to tell you the truth it's difficult to find actual fruit in the fruit pies. I'm even convinced that they, for the most part use canned, and not much of that. At least the Pecan has real nuts on top and the mush that one expects under it. I will say this for their pies, they are at least as good as the cheaper grocery store ones.
